Progressive Field

Last Meeting ( May 3, 2013 ) Minnesota 6, Cleveland 7

The Cleveland Indians look to stay hot and get above .500 for the first time since they were 2-1 when they host the Minnesota Twins on Saturday afternoon. The Indians blew a late lead but rallied to force extra innings before winning the series opener 7-6 on a Drew Stubbs walk-off RBI double. Cleveland had seven extra-base hits in the win and has scored 46 runs during a five-game winning streak, its longest in two years.

Stubbs had four hits, three of which were doubles, and Jason Kipnis finished with four RBIs for the surging Indians, which entered the series ranked in the top five in baseball in slugging percentage, home runs, on-base percentage and batting average. The Twins fell behind Cleveland and into fourth place in the American League Central. They are 1-3 on a season high-tying 10-game road trip.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Kevin Correia (3-1, 2.23 ERA) vs. Indians LH Scott Kazmir (0-1, 8.64)

Correia has been a huge boost for Minnesota, taking an extreme liking to pitching in his new home. He is 3-0 with a 1.86 ERA at Target Field, including eight scoreless innings in a 5-0 win over Texas on Sunday. Correia's only road start resulted in his only loss, but he was still solid, allowing three runs in 7 1/3 innings. The veteran right-hander has lasted at least seven innings in all five of his starts and is the first Twins starter to begin his career with the team with five straight quality starts since Ramon Ortiz in 2007. Correia let up two runs in 5 2/3 innings in his only start against Cleveland on June 17, 2001.

Kazmir had a miserable return to the majors when he was roughed up two weeks ago against the lowly Houston Astros, but had a nice bounce-back effort in Kansas City last Saturday, allowing two runs in five innings in a 3-2 loss. While Kazmir needed 99 pitches to get through the five frames, it represented a solid step forward for a pitcher whose last start of that length came on Sept. 30, 2010. The lefty is 2-4 with a 4.26 ERA in six career starts against Minnesota, the last coming on April 28, 2009.

WALK-OFFS

1. Twins 1B Justin Morneau is 5-for-14 with two homers and two doubles against Kazmir, good for a .929 slugging percentage.

2. Indians CF Michael Bourn (finger) did some running drills Friday and may begin a rehab assignment in the coming days.

3. Stubbs is 9-for-13 with a home run and three doubles in his last three games.

PREDICTION: Twins 5, Indians 4

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
