Colorado @ San Francisco preview

Oracle Park

Last Meeting ( Sep 26, 2011 ) Colorado 1, San Francisco 3

THE STORY: The San Francisco Giants ended their four-game losing streak Monday with a 3-1 triumph over the Colorado Rockies in the opener of their season-ending three-game series. San Francisco looks to extend its home winning streak to six games when they host the Rockies on Tuesday. Colorado has lost 10 of its last 12 contests.

TV: 10:15 p.m. ET, Root Sports (Colorado), CSN Bay Area (San Francisco)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Alex White (2-3, 8.63 ERA) vs. Giants LH Madison Bumgarner (12-13, 3.32 ERA).

White will be making his seventh start since being acquired from Cleveland on July 31 in the Ubaldo Jimenez trade. The 23-year old allowed five runs over 4 2/3 innings at Houston on Thursday in his second straight loss. That setback followed one against San Francisco on Sept. 16 in which White yielded six runs over 5 2/3 frames.

Bumgarner is 2 1/3 innings away from becoming the fourth San Francisco Giants pitcher under the age of 23 to reach 200 for the season. He had his five-game winning streak snapped Thursday at Los Angeles as he allowed four runs in four frames. Bumgarner notched his first win in six career starts against Colorado on Sept. 16 when he yielded an unearned run in seven innings at Coors Field.

ABOUT THE ROCKIES (72-88): Carlos Gonzalez had his right wrist examined Monday by San Francisco 49ers orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tim McAdams, who agreed with the Rockies that rest would help heal his deep bone bruise and tendon inflammation. Gonzalez does not plan on swinging a bat until November. Reliever Huston Street still is nursing a groin injury and is unlikely to appear in the final two games of the year. Hitting coach Carney Lansford is expected to undergo hip replacement surgery in October.

ABOUT THE GIANTS (85-75): Sergio Romo allowed a run for the first time in 29 appearances. Romo, who entered with a 21 2/3-inning scoreless streak, recorded two outs in the eighth before yielding an RBI single by Mark Ellis. Carlos Beltran went 0-for-3 on Monday, leaving him a double shy of reaching 40 for the third time in his career. It's been feast or famine for Pablo Sandoval lately. Over his last 14 games, Sandoval has collected seven multi-hit performances and gone hitless six times.

FINAL PITCH: San Francisco has won six straight meetings with Colorado and 12 of 16 overall this season. The Giants have never posted more than 12 wins against the Rockies in a campaign and last did it in 2003 (12-7).

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
