The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins are in very familiar territory as they head to Minneapolis on Monday for Game 3 of their best-of-five American League Division Series, an unfortunate scenario for the hosts. The Twins have dropped a record 15 consecutive postseason games - 12 of them to the Yankees -after being outscored 18-6 in dropping the first two contests of the series in New York.

"It's going to be nice to be home, take (Sunday) to kind of recalibrate, I guess," first baseman C.J. Cron told reporters after Saturday's 8-2 loss in the Bronx. "Hopefully, when we do get in front of our fans, we can feel a little more comfortable and have nothing to do but win now. It's our only option, and hopefully we can do that." The Yankees were powered in Game 2 by a grand slam from Didi Gregorius and a solid pitching performance that saw Masahiro Tanaka and four relievers combine to scatter six hits and strike out 14. They'll aim for their third straight ALDS sweep against the Twins behind right-hander Luis Severino, who made three starts down the stretch after missing most of the year with shoulder and lat issues. Minnesota will try to stay alive with veteran Jake Odorizzi on the mound.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees RH Luis Severino (1-1, 1.50 ERA) vs. Twins RH Jake Odorizzi (15-7, 3.51)

Severino has struggled in the playoffs, beginning with a dismal outing against the Twins in the 2017 Wild Card Game when he allowed three runs while recording one out. He carries a 6.26 ERA in his six career postseason starts, working beyond five innings only one time. The 25-year-old threw nine scorless innings over his first two starts upon returning to the rotation in September, and then allowed two runs in three frames at Texas in his last outing Sept. 28.

An All-Star for the first time in 2019, Odorizzi will be making his debut in the postseason. He allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his final 10 starts in the regular season, finishing with six innings of one-run ball in a win at Detroit on Sept. 24. The Illinois native blanked the Yankees over six innings in New York on May 4, but was pounded for a season-high nine runs in four frames in a rematch at Target Field on July 24.
