Chicago @ Detroit preview
Comerica Park
Last Meeting ( Aug 14, 2018 ) Chi. White Sox 6, Detroit 3
The Chicago White Sox will attempt to build off a rare win over the Detroit Tigers when the American League Central rivals play the rubber game of a three-game series in the Motor City on Wednesday. Jose Abreu drove in two runs and four pitchers combined to scatter nine hits as the White Sox picked up a 6-3 victory Tuesday.
They snapped a five-game slide against the Tigers and won for just the second time in the past 12 meetings overall. Chicago is 21-38 on the road but can pick up its second consecutive series win away from home with a victory in the finale behind red-hot lefty Carlos Rodon. On the same token, Detroit can record a third straight series victory at home if they can triumph with veteran right-hander Jordan Zimmermann on the mound. Nicholas Castellanos had five hits and five RBIs in the Tigers' series-opening win and entered Tuesday hitting .419 against the White Sox this year, but the right fielder was 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in the setback, including one to end the game with two runners on base.
