Last Meeting ( Sep 10, 2019 ) Cincinnati 3, Seattle 4

The Seattle Mariners began their six-game homestand on Tuesday by ending their six-game losing streak in exciting fashion. The team attempts to post consecutive victories for the first time since a four-game winning streak from Aug. 17-20 when it hosts the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday for the middle contest of their three-game interleague series.

Seattle kicked off September with a triumph in Texas before losing the final six contests of its 2-8 road trip and was in danger of suffering a seventh straight defeat before Kyle Seager belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning to give the club a 4-3 win. Kyle Lewis hit a solo shot in his major-league debut and Dylan Moore also went deep as three of the Mariners' four hits on Tuesday were home runs. Brian O'Grady gave Cincinnati the lead in the seventh inning on Tuesday with his first career homer, a pinch-hit, two-run blast that erased a 2-1 deficit. The 27-year-old has gone 4-for-9 this month after recording just one hit over his first 12 major-league at-bats.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Sonny Gray (10-6, 2.75 ERA) vs. Mariners LH Marco Gonzales (14-11, 4.37)

Gray has reverted back to the form he displayed with Oakland that made him one of baseball's most promising pitchers in his first season with Cincinnati after struggling during his 1 1/2-year tenure with the New York Yankees. The 29-year-old Tennessean has allowed fewer than four runs in 24 of his 28 starts this campaign and fewer than three in 12 of his last 13 turns, yielding a total of five over 42 2/3 innings in his last seven outings. Gray, who has gone 5-0 during his nine-start unbeaten streak, is 5-2 with a 2.71 ERA in 11 career starts against Seattle.

Gonzales has been ineffective since recording his career-high 14th victory on Aug. 25, surrendering 11 runs - nine earned - and 14 hits over 11 innings while going 0-1 in his last two starts. The 27-year-old native of Colorado has been superb at home since yielding 10 runs in a loss to the Los Angeles Angels on June 2, posting a 5-0 record while permitting fewer than three runs in each of his last six turns at T-Mobile Park. Gonzales has allowed two runs and a pair of hits over 2 2/3 frames in two career relief appearances versus the Reds, both coming in 2014 when he was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals.

WALK-OFFS

1. Seager's homer on Tuesday was his 22nd in 89 games this season, matching his total in 155 contests last year.

2. Cincinnati OF Jose Peraza has gone 3-for-3 in his last two games after going hitless in his previous six at-bats spanning five contests.

3. Seattle on Tuesday purchased the contracts of Lewis, 2B Donnie Walton and RHPs Justin Dunn and Art Warren from Double-A Arkansas while designating SS Ryan Court for assignment.

PREDICTION: Reds 7, Mariners 4

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
