Tampa Bay @ Los Angeles preview

Dodger Stadium

Last Meeting ( Sep 17, 2019 ) Tampa Bay 5, LA Dodgers 7

Corey Seager looks to continue his recent trend of delivering timely hits when the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday for the finale of their two-game interleague series. Seager collected four RBIs in Tuesday's 7-5 victory, including a go-ahead, two-run double in the seventh inning.

Seager has recorded 18 RBIs this month and a National League-high 32 since Aug. 13 while being a key cog in Los Angeles' lineup. "We're pretty good," Seager said in a postgame interview conducted by YouTube. "Hitting is contagious. It's always the next guy mentality. Nobody is trying to be the man that night. You're always trying to pass the baton and do what you can." While Los Angeles (98-54) trails the New York Yankees and Houston by one game for the best record in the majors, the Rays hold a one-half game lead over Cleveland for the American League's second wild card. Tampa Bay, which has lost two straight games and four of six, follows the finale against the Dodgers with a pivotal six-game homestand versus Boston (four) and New York.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rays LH Brendan McKay (2-4, 5.27 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Tony Gonsolin (3-2, 2.83)

McKay has gone 0-3 over his last five starts and lasted four innings or fewer in four of those outings. The 23-year-old rookie lost to Texas in his last turn, when he gave up three runs and six hits over 3 1/3 frames. McKay is 1-1 with a 5.09 ERA in four road starts.

Gonsolin will be making his seventh start - and ninth appearance - of the season. The 25-year-old picked up the win against Baltimore on Thursday after allowing one run and two hits in three innings of relief. Gonsolin has served up four homers and registered 31 strikeouts in 35 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (ankle) missed his eighth straight game on Tuesday.

2. Tampa Bay CF Kevin Kiermaier struck out three times in four hitless at-bats in the series opener and is just 5-for-46 over his last 15 contests.

3. Los Angeles OF Alex Verdugo (back) will miss the National League Division Series but could return later in the postseason if the team advances.

PREDICTION: Dodgers 6, Rays 4

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
