The Chicago White Sox are knocking the cover off the ball heading down the stretch and have themselves eyeing a three-game sweep when they conclude a weekend set at the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Jose Abreu and Yoan Moncada combined for five hits and four RBIs in Saturday's 5-3 win for the White Sox, who have won three in a row and are averaging 16.5 hits over their last four games.
Moncada is 20-for-41 with nine RBIs during a nine-game hitting streak and Abreu upped his American League-leading RBI total to 121. Tim Anderson added a solo shot for Chicago on Saturday and he'll carry an AL-leading .335 average into the series finale. Abreu and Anderson are a combined 22-for-60 against Matthew Boyd, who starts for the Tigers on Sunday. The White Sox counter with Reynaldo Lopez as they seek their first four-game winning streak since a five-gamer at the end of May.

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox RH Reynaldo Lopez (9-14, 5.44 ERA) vs. Tigers LH Matthew Boyd (8-11, 4.54)
After opening September with a complete game and 11 strikeouts at Cleveland, Lopez has given up 11 runs in 10 innings over his last two starts. He had back-to-back starts against the Tigers in April in which he allowed two earned runs over 12 total innings with 22 strikeouts, but was less effective in a loss to the Tigers on July 4 at home. John Hicks is 5-for-14 with a home run against the 25-year-old Lopez, who has a 4.11 ERA in five career starts at Comerica Park.
Boyd lasted at least six innings in four straight starts before he was knocked out after five frames against the New York Yankees on Sept. 12. He was then skipped a turn after the passing of his grandfather. The Oregon State product tied a career high with 13 strikeouts against the White Sox opposite Lopez on July 4.
