NEW ORLEANS -- Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant combined for 83 points and Golden State responded with firepower after allowing 39 first-quarter points to coast to a 128-120 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night at the Smoothie King Center.
Thompson finished with 33 points and Curry had 28 as the Warriors (1-1) rebounded from a season-opening loss to Houston. Durant had 22 points and a career-high seven blocks.
The Pelicans made eight 3-pointers in the first quarter and led 39-26, but they could not maintain the shooting pace. Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins had 35 points apiece for the Pelicans. Davis added 17 rebounds, and Cousins had 14.
Starting guard E'Twaun Moore was held scoreless in 25 minutes.
The Warriors will finish their three-game road trip with games Saturday night against Memphis and Monday night against Dallas.
The Warriors used a 29-4 run bridging the final 1:57 of the first half and the first 3:57 of the third quarter to take a 77-66 lead. Thompson played a key role, blocking a perimeter shot by Jrue Holiday and then racing down court for a dunk.
Thompson added a 3-pointer on the Warriors' next possession, and Golden State led 98-90 after three.
The Pelicans led 64-61 at halftime, but Golden State made a charge in the final 1:57 of the half, outscoring New Orleans 13-2, with six points coming from Durant. Durant also nailed a 3-pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer.
The Pelicans made 11 of 19 from 3-points range in the first half and shot 54 percent overall. Davis scored 16 points in the first half to lead New Orleans, and Durant had 17 for Golden State.
NOTES: The Warriors have beaten the Pelicans in 22 of their last 23 meetings, including the last 12 and a 4-0 playoff sweep in 2015. ... Pelicans reserve C Alexis Ajinca is expected to miss four to six weeks after receiving shots in each knee for patellar tendinitis. ... Former Warriors G Ian Clark, who signed with the Pelicans in the offseason, will wait until Nov. 25 when New Orleans plays at Golden State to get his NBA championship ring. They look nice," Clark said. "I'm excited to get mine."
