San Antonio @ Golden State preview

Chase Center

Last Meeting ( Mar 18, 2019 ) Golden State 105, San Antonio 111

The Golden State Warriors will be without star guard Stephen Curry for a yet to be determined time period because of a broken left hand. The Warriors attempt to set their disappointment aside Friday night when they host the San Antonio Spurs.

Curry suffered the injury during the third quarter of Wednesday's 121-110 loss to Phoenix, when Suns center Aron Baynes landed on Curry's hand and pinned it against the floor. The loss of Curry is another blow for a team playing without shooting guard Klay Thompson (knee) and struggling to a 1-3 start in the post-Kevin Durant era. "Obviously it's been a tough start for us on many levels," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters. "So we're just trying to find our footing. And obviously this puts us in a tough spot. So we'll assess it, and we'll go from there." San Antonio fell from the ranks of the unbeaten Thursday night with a 103-97 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, FS Southwest (San Antonio), NBCS Bay Area (Golden State)

ABOUT THE SPURS (3-1): Guard DeMar DeRozan scored a season-best 29 points on 13-of-21 shooting against the Clippers and is averaging 27.3 points, six rebounds and 1.7 steals over the past three games. Standout power forward LaMarcus Aldridge was a non-factor against Los Angeles with a season-low five points and is averaging 10 (on 8-of-25 shooting) over the last two games. Point guard Dejounte Murray, who missed last season due to an ACL tear, is averaging 13 points, eight rebounds, five assists and 2.3 steals and will sit out Friday on the back side of consecutive games.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (1-3): According to the team, Golden State is 43-67 without Curry in the lineup since 2009-10, including 5-8 last season. The Warriors expect to learn how long the two-time MVP will be sidelined Friday after specialists review the results of a CT scan and determine the best course of action with surgery being one of the options. Offseason acquisition D'Angelo Russell, who is averaging 16.3 points and six assists, figures to slide over to the point while Alec Burks (seven points in 18 minutes on Wednesday in his team debut) also will see an increase in his role.

BUZZER BEATERS

3. Golden State PF Draymond Green scored a season-low four points on 2-of-8 shooting versus the Suns.

PREDICTION: Spurs 102, Warriors 87
