Last Meeting ( Mar 11, 2019 ) Detroit 75, Brooklyn 103

The Brooklyn Nets seek their first winning streak in the Kyrie Irving era when they visit the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. Irving averaged 35.3 points per game during the Nets' 1-3 start before focusing more on distribution in Friday's 123-116 win over Houston at home.

The six-time All-Star finished with a season-low 22 points while handing out a season-high 10 assists for Brooklyn, which hit 19-of-32 3-pointers in the victory. Forward Taurean Prince had six of those 3-pointers en route to a season-high 27 points and guard Caris LeVert added 25 for the Nets. The Pistons are coming off an 0-2 road trip capped by Friday's 112-106 loss at Chicago. They continue to operate without forward Blake Griffin (hamstring) and Reggie Jackson (back), although Griffin is nearing a return.

ABOUT THE NETS (2-3): Irving has been the focal point too often at times for Brooklyn, and Friday's effort in which five players scored at least 15 points and the team recorded 26 assists was more in line with what the team needs going forward. "We can't rely on Kyrie every night to be Superman," coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters. Forward Joe Harris contributed 15 points while making 3-of-4 3-pointers, improving to 16-for-29 from beyond the arc on the season.

ABOUT THE PISTONS (2-4): Center Andre Drummond and guard Derrick Rose continue to carry Detroit in the wake of the injuries and they kept the team afloat Friday in Chicago. Drummond recorded his sixth straight double-double to begin the season with 25 points and 24 rebounds while Rose came off the bench to provide 23 points, seven assists and three steals in 25 minutes. The former MVP is averaging 20.8 points in 25.2 minutes on the season, shooting better than 50 percent in five of his six games.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Nets SG Garrett Temple made 4-of-6 3-pointers in Friday's win after going 2-for-9 through his first five games.

2. Drummond has three 20-20 games on the season.

3. Brooklyn won two of three meetings last season, although it lost its one game in Detroit.

PREDICTION: Nets 110, Pistons 108
