Last Meeting ( Mar 30, 2019 ) Orlando 121, Indiana 116

The Orlando Magic were waiting for the offense to catch up to the defense and lead to some wins, and they may have just discovered the perfect balance. The Magic will try to earn back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they host the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.

Orlando leads the Eastern Conference in scoring defense, limiting opponents to an average of 98.2 points, but is last in scoring offense (97.7 points) and finally showed what the team can be when the shots fall with a 118-86 triumph over Memphis on Friday. "Turned the corner? I don't know, but we did play better," Magic shooting guard Evan Fournier told reporters. "We had more easy baskets and that's why we scored. We've been saying that the offense hasn't been good, but it's been because we don't get enough good shots. Tonight, we were able to create a lot of good shots and that was the key." The Pacers are winners of five of their last six games and earned a 112-106 win on Friday over the Detroit Pistons - a team they lost to twice during an 0-3 start. "It's our third time playing against them," Indiana forward Domantas Sabonis told reporters. "If we didn't get it right tonight, I don't know. ... We're professionals and we have to go out and do what the coaches say, and I think today we did exactly what the plan was."

ABOUT THE PACERS (5-4): Indiana placed seven scorers in double figures on Friday, with 17 points from Sabonis, T.J. Warren and T.J. McConnell marking the team lead. "We know that anyone on this team can score on any given night," small forward Doug McDermott, who scored 14 points on Friday, told the team's website. "You have to pick your poison out there - (on) defense, you have to. We have too many guys that can play, and it's all coming together. We knew it would take a little time. But these guys just know how to play and it's fun to be a part of." Point guard Malcolm Brogdon leads the team in scoring (21 points) and assists (9.0) but scored a season-low 11 points on Friday.

ABOUT THE MAGIC (3-6): The Magic held the Grizzlies to 37.2 percent from the floor on Friday while the starting frontcourt of Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac and Nikola Vucevic combined to go 25-of-37 from the floor. "We've got really good defensive players on this team and the one thing we can hang our hats on is knowing that we can defend," Gordon told reporters. "That (defensive) side of the floor, we know that we can handle pretty much anybody. But it's nice to see our offense get going as well." Fournier added 19 points in the win and is 10-of-18 from the floor over the last two games after going 0-of-7 in a 102-94 loss at Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Magic SG Terrence Ross (knee) sat out the last two games and is day-to-day.

2. Pacers C Myles Turner and SG Jeremy Lamb are both dealing with ankle sprains and will not play Sunday.

3. Orlando took the final three meetings last season by an average of 5.7 points.
