Indiana @ Brooklyn preview

Barclays Center

Last Meeting ( Oct 30, 2019 ) Indiana 118, Brooklyn 108

The Indiana Pacers are coming off a rough back-to-back and will look to jump back into the win column against a struggling squad when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. The Pacers won seven of eight before falling at Houston on Friday and failing to bring much energy at home in a loss to Milwaukee the next night.

Indiana lost point guards Malcolm Brogdon (back) and T.J. McConnell (groin) to injury during Friday's game and missed the pair on the offensive end Saturday as the team shot 32 percent from the floor in a 102-83 setback. "I thought our effort was there, but they did what you're supposed to do when a team is battling a situation like we're battling," Pacers coach Nate McMillan told reporters after the latest loss. "You don't allow them confidence, you pressure them...and they did that." The Nets have their own injury issues at the point guard position with Kyrie Irving sitting out Saturday's 117-111 win at Chicago to rest a shoulder injury, but Spencer Dinwiddie stepped up with 20 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter. "He took over," Brooklyn coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters of Dinwiddie. "His drives, how aggressive he was, understanding the mismatch, understanding when to get out up the blitz. He was just fantastic."

ABOUT THE PACERS (7-6): Indiana got one player off the injured list on Saturday when center Myles Turner (ankle) returned from an eight-game absence. Turner delivered 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting and 11 rebounds in 33 minutes and knocked down a team-high three 3-pointers. "I was just happy to get back out there," Turner told reporters. "I didn't care how many points I scored or what happened tonight, I just wanted to get back out there with my guys. It's been a tough past couple of weeks. It's hard to just sit there and watch."

ABOUT THE NETS (5-7): Irving could return as soon as Monday and Dinwiddie will be happy to have his teammate back to carry the load. "I'm not Kyrie," Dinwiddie told reporters after taking over down the stretch Saturday. "He's gonna continue to lead this team and do a great job. I just tried to gauge what needed to be done to win the game. I'm not gonna be Kyrie. Kyrie might win MVP this year." Irving is averaging 28.5 points and 7.2 assists and is dealing with a shoulder impingement that likely contributed to a 4-of-23 effort from beyond the arc in losses at Phoenix, Utah and Denver.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Pacers PF Domantas Sabonis went 3-of-13 from the floor on Saturday but finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds for his seventh consecutive double-double.

2. Nets C Jarrett Allen went 5-of-5 from the floor Saturday and is shooting 64.7 percent on the season.

3. Sabonis led the way with 29 points in a 118-108 win at Brooklyn on Oct. 30.

PREDICTION: Pacers 115, Nets 109
