Golden State @ Utah preview

Delta Center

Last Meeting ( Nov 11, 2019 ) Utah 122, Golden State 108

The Golden State Warriors are dropping from the top of the league to the bottom in record time and weren't even close to competitive in their last game. The Warriors will try to put forth a better effort when they finish off a four-game road trip by visiting the Utah Jazz on Friday.

Golden State snapped a seven-game slide with a 114-95 victory at Memphis on Tuesday but could not muster the energy in the second half of the back-to-back with Draymond Green (heel) and D'Angelo Russell (thumb) out and was crushed 142-94 at Dallas. "We are not watching tape on this one," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters. "We just get ready for Utah on Friday. ... Flush it down the toilet. Literally, you just move on. You don't take anything from a game like this." The Jazz have a 122-108 win at Golden State under their belts already this season and are heading home after earning a split of a home-and-home set with a 103-95 victory at Minnesota on Wednesday. Utah suffered its first home loss in the opener of that home-and-home set and will play the next two in front of a friendly crowd before heading out for a five-game trip.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, NBCS Bay Area (Golden State), AT&T Sports Net Rocky Mountain (Utah)

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (3-13): Golden State did not dress a player on Wednesday that was part of the team that went to the NBA Finals last season and is growing a young roster with superstars Stephen Curry (hand) and Klay Thompson (knee) out long term. Rookie point guard Ky Bowman stepped up with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Jordan Poole added 11 points and seven assists off the bench. The best of the rookie bunch continues to be forward Eric Paschall, who logged 40 minutes on Wednesday and collected 22 points and seven rebounds.

ABOUT THE JAZZ (9-5): Guard Donovan Mitchell broke out of a shooting slump in the second half on Wednesday thanks in part to some motivation from a heckling fan. "He was just saying something along the lines of how I'm not a good basketball player," Mitchell, who finished with 26 points and went 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, told reporters. "I said, 'Just wait. Eventually, it will happen.'" Mitchell had some help from small forward Bojan Bogdanovic, who scored 30 points - his second 30-plus effort of the season.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Warriors SF Glenn Robinson III scored a season-high 20 points in Tuesday's win but slumped to five points on 2-of-7 shooting Wednesday.

2. Jazz C Rudy Gobert posted his fifth straight double-double and matched a season high with five blocks on Wednesday.

3. Utah took five of the last seven in the series.

PREDICTION: Jazz 120, Warriors 98
