Last Meeting ( Nov 13, 2019 ) San Antonio 114, Minnesota 129

The Minnesota Timberwolves began a daunting stretch filled with road games with a rather easy win and they'll seek another solid effort away from home when they visit the struggling San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. After losing their fourth straight home game Saturday against Phoenix, the Timberwolves ran their road winning streak to three in a row with a 125-113 victory at Atlanta on Monday.

That game began a span in which the team plays 10 of 14 on the road, including six of the first seven. Minnesota's 129-114 victory over the Spurs earlier this month was part of San Antonio's eight-game losing streak. It snapped the slide at Madison Square Garden on Saturday but returned home and dropped a 114-104 decision to the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday. "Got to. Got to," guard DeMar DeRozan told reporters of the need to stay positive amid the struggles. "Granted everybody hates losing, sucks to lose, but with that you've got to be resilient. Somebody once told me a mountain can't be a mountain if it's smooth, whatever that may mean."

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FS North (Minnesota), FS Southwest (San Antonio)

ABOUT THE TIMBERWOLVES (9-8): Minnesota moved veteran guard Jeff Teague to the bench for Monday's game and he helped spark a crew of reserves that produced 46 points with just two turnovers, with center Gorgui Dieng contributing 13 points in 16 minutes. "Gorgui was amazing. ... When he's given the opportunity, he goes out and makes magic happen," center Karl-Anthony Towns told reporters. "Jeff (Teague) is just a pro. He's an amazing guy to have in the locker room. We're in this to win. We're not about individual accolades." Towns finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds for his seventh straight double-double.

ABOUT THE SPURS (6-12): DeRozan has been doing his part amid the team's slump and is averaging 28.2 points over the last five games while shooting 60.7 percent from the floor. LaMarcus Aldridge had a team-high 30 points in the loss to the Lakers and Derrick White was 5-of-6 from the floor while making his fourth start of the season. DeRozan and Aldridge combined for 50 points in the loss at Minnesota earlier this month.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Timberwolves PF Robert Covington was held to five points on 1-of-8 shooting Monday night after missing the previous game for personal reasons.

2. DeRozan remains without a made 3-pointer and is 7-for-49 from long range in his two seasons with the Spurs.

3. San Antonio has won 11 straight meetings at home.

PREDICTION: Timberwolves 116, Spurs 114
