Chicago @ Golden State preview

Chase Center

Last Meeting ( Jan 11, 2019 ) Chicago 109, Golden State 146

The Chicago Bulls will occasionally show flashes of being a team that can grow together and compete, but consistency remains an issue. The Bulls will try to put together four solid quarters and get off to a strong start on a three-game road trip when they visit the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

Chicago was riding a high after Zach LaVine set a franchise record with 13 3-pointers and scored 49 points in a 116-115 win at Charlotte on Saturday but the good vibes did not continue as the team went 9-of-39 from 3-point range in a 117-94 home loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. "I like my group," Bulls coach Jim Boylen told reporters. "They're disappointed we didn't play better. We're just going to come in tomorrow and go to work and grow. We missed five dunks, two doubles at the free throw line. We missed open threes I think we can make, and I'd like our guys to take. I thought it took our spirit and we have to fight through those moments." The Warriors are showing some fight, but it has yet to result in wins. "It was frustrating because we had the game right in our grasp, and we just couldn't finish it off," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters after a 100-97 home loss to Oklahoma City on Monday. "More than anything, I just feel sick for our guys because they continue to compete. They deserve better."

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, NBCS Chicago, NBCS Bay Area (Golden State)

ABOUT THE BULLS (6-12): Chicago allowed each of its last three opponents to shoot at least 49.4 percent from the floor and had no answer on Monday for a Trail Blazers squad that shot 61.3 percent from inside the arc. "We're always in rotations," LaVine told reporters. "That's our defensive scheme, we have to play it. We have to do what our scheme is and what we've practiced and we're doing it to the best of our abilities. We just have to get it done." LaVine managed 18 points and went 1-of-5 from beyond the arc to follow up his record-setting performance in the previous contest.

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (3-15): Golden State only had eight players available on Monday - none that were members of the team that went to the NBA Finals last season - but still pushed Oklahoma City to the brink before falling for the 10th time in 11 games. Rookie point guard Ky Bowman recorded a season-high of 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting while rookie power forward Eric Paschall added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors are supposed to get All-Star Draymond Green (heel) and starting big man Kevon Looney (hamstring) back soon but are still without All-Stars Stephen Curry (hand), D'Angelo Russell (thumb) and Klay Thompson (knee).

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Warriors SF Glenn Robinson III scored a season-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting on Monday.

2. Bulls SG Denzel Valentine logged a season-high 16 minutes off the bench Monday and scored 11 points.

3. Golden State averaged 147.5 points in a pair of wins over Chicago last season.

PREDICTION: Warriors 109, Bulls 102
