Last Meeting ( Oct 31, 2019 ) San Antonio 97, L.A. Clippers 103

The Los Angeles Clippers seek their eighth consecutive victory when they visit the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. San Antonio is spiraling in a different direction than the Clippers as it has dropped 12 of its last 14 games.

Los Angeles' streak was in severe jeopardy when it trailed the host Memphis Grizzlies by 10 with 6:48 to play but the club finished the game with a 23-11 burst to post a 121-119 victory on Montrezl Harrell's tip-in with 2.3 seconds left. "We don't panic," Clippers coach Doc Rivers told reporters afterward. "We keep running our stuff. We get enough stops. We're a gritty basketball team." San Antonio fell 113-101 to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday to suffer its fifth consecutive home loss. Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored 22 points to top 20 for the third straight contest while guard DeMar DeRozan added 20 for his sixth consecutive 20-point effort.

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (14-5): Harrell had 24 points and 10 rebounds and guard Lou Williams registered 24 points and 13 assists in the win over the Grizzlies as star forward Kawhi Leonard (knee) sat out on the second end of a back-to-back. Leonard will be back in action against the Spurs -- his former team -- but Harrell, Williams and forward Paul George (22 points) carried the load against Memphis. Backup guard Rodney McGruder suffered a leg injury on Wednesday and Rivers didn't like what he saw and said "my guess it's not a good injury."

ABOUT THE SPURS (6-13): Second-year guard Lonnie Walker IV was a surprise contributor with a season-best 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting in a season-high 13 minutes in the loss to Minnesota. The first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft saw action in just 17 regular-season games last season and has been waiting his turn in hopes of seeing more playing time. "You just have to be patient, day in and day out," Walker told reporters after Wednesday's game. "You know the coaches have your best interest (in mind). A lot of them told me to stay ready. So, day in and day out, as long as I put my 110 percent effort in during practice or whatever, I'm happy with the decision."

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Leonard scored a season-best 38 points as the Clippers notched a 103-97 home win over the Spurs on Oct. 31.

2. Los Angeles SG Landry Shamet (ankle) is expected to miss his 10th straight game.

3. San Antonio SG Bryn Forbes is 5-for-26 from 3-point range over the past four games.

PREDICTION: Clippers 113, Spurs 101
