Last Meeting ( Nov 20, 2018 ) L.A. Clippers 118, Washington 125

The Washington Wizards are the second-highest scoring team in the NBA but ran into a defense that could shut them down on Friday and are staring at another on Sunday. The Wizards will try to find a way to generate points when they visit Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

Washington is averaging 118.5 points but followed up a 140-point outburst in a win at Phoenix with 103 points on 39.6 percent shooting in a 125-103 loss to the Lakers on Friday. "That's the best team we've played all year now," Wizards coach Scott Brooks told reporters after the loss. "Their record is 17-2 for a reason. They've got two of the best players in the league. You've got to be able to sustain and play physically and make shots. We didn't make enough shots in that first half and they were aggressive. They're long. Defensively, they're good. It was a tough night." Washington will see a similar team in the Clippers, who should be motivated to bounce back after having a seven-game winning streak come to an end in a 107-97 loss at San Antonio on Friday. The loss was the first for Los Angeles with George and Leonard on the floor together as the two combined to go 10-of-34 from the floor.

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (6-11): Washington allowed at least 113 points in each of its last 11 games - going 4-7 in that span - and the offense is struggling to keep pace with the defensive breakdowns. Star shooting guard Bradley Beal is fourth in the league in scoring at an average of 28.3 points but was held to 20 or fewer points in each of the last three losses, including 18 points on 5-of-13 shooting in Friday's setback. Center Thomas Bryant has been the team's most consistent non-Beal scoring option but was held to five points on 2-of-6 shooting in 22 minutes against the Lakers.

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (14-6): George had little trouble fitting in with his new team when he first returned from offseason shoulder surgery and averaged 24.8 points in his first eight games before slumping to a season-low five points on 2-of-11 shooting in 33 minutes on Friday. "I didn't really find a good rhythm," George told reporters. "Still just trying to figure out playing out there with my guys." Leonard averages 25.4 points but had a string of three straight 20-plus efforts come to an end when he scored 19 on 8-of-23 shooting against his former team on Friday.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Wizards SF C.J. Miles (wrist) is expected to miss his third straight game.

2. Clippers SG Rodney McGruder (leg) sat out Friday and is day-to-day.

3. The home team took the last seven meetings.

PREDICTION: Clippers 121, Wizards 106
