Last Meeting ( Dec 26, 2018 ) Phoenix 122, Orlando 120

The Phoenix Suns bounced back from a painful homestand to start a four-game road trip on the right foot. They'll try to make it two in a row away from home when they visit the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.

A seemingly much-improved team out of the gate, Phoenix went into a 1-6 tailspin that included two straight losses at home last week in which it gave up an average of 130 points. The bounce-back took place Monday in Charlotte, where the Suns rode a 23-point performance by Kelly Oubre Jr. to a 109-104 win over the Hornets to improve to 4-3 on the road. The Magic are coming off a 127-120 win at Washington on Tuesday, their second straight road victory after opening 0-7 away from home. Evan Fournier led the way with 31 points in Orlando's highest-scoring output of the season.

ABOUT THE SUNS (9-10): Phoenix committed a season low-tying seven turnovers at Charlotte while forcing the Hornets into 19, helping to overcome a 9-for-42 showing from beyond the arc. Oubre hit two of those nine 3-pointers down the stretch after missing his first seven and he feels he can be more of a weapon in that department. "People say that is one of my flaws," Oubre, who is shooting a career-high 46.1 percent from the floor, told reporters. "They say I can be a more consistent jump shooter. But at the end of the day, I am getting better."

ABOUT THE MAGIC (9-11): Four reserves combined for 47 points on 14-of-26 shooting in the win over the Wizards, and each of them had a rating of plus-13 or better. Starting forward Aaron Gordon finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds in his best game since returning from an ankle injury three games ago while guard Markelle Fultz recorded a career-high 20 points. "This is a step in the right direction for us offensively," Gordon told reporters after Orlando shot a season-high 51.1 percent from the field.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Suns G Ty Jerome made his NBA debut Monday and recorded four points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds in 12 minutes.

2. Magic PG D.J. Augustin scored a season-high 24 points in 29 minutes Tuesday after being scoreless in 24 minutes of Sunday's win over Golden State.

3. The teams split two meetings last season, the road team winning both times.

PREDICTION: Magic 108, Suns 106
