Last Meeting ( Oct 25, 2019 ) Utah 86, L.A. Lakers 95

The Los Angeles Lakers attempt to snap an eight-game losing streak in Salt Lake City when they visit the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Los Angeles lost last season's two meetings by an average of 16.5 points and hasn't prevailed in Utah since a 100-97 triumph Feb. 25, 2015.

The Lakers are soaring and the Jazz are floundering entering this meeting as Los Angeles won for the 11th time in 12 games when it recorded a 105-96 triumph over the host Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. "We came in with a great mindset," Lakers forward LeBron James said in a postgame television interview. "We have four, five, maybe six or seven guys battling with the flu right now and sometimes that's the best way to lock in when you're dealing with an illness. Utah is back at home after a 1-4 road trip that included losses of 19 points to the Indiana Pacers and 20 to the Toronto Raptors. Point guard Mike Conley injured a hamstring during Monday's 103-94 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and will miss Wednesday's game.

ABOUT THE LAKERS (18-3): James had 25 points, nine assists and six rebounds against Denver while ill Anthony Davis had 25 points and 10 rebounds. Davis received an IV at halftime and the star power forward was able to fight through the sickness to play 37 minutes. "The illness didn't play as big a part as I thought it would, especially playing in Denver in altitude," Davis told reporters afterward. "That's a good thing. We've got another one against Utah (on Wednesday) in the same type of conditions."

ABOUT THE JAZZ (12-9): Utah trailed the 76ers by as many as 26 points before rallying to make the score respectable and coach Quin Snyder termed the defeat as another lesson. "For me, it's important for our team to learn from games," Snyder told reporters. "Not to ignore bad games by any means, but what can you do with it. I think that mindset if you keep working, this team is different than the teams we have had. There is enthusiasm about that." Center Rudy Gobert scored a season-best 27 points against Philadelphia and also collected 12 rebounds for his 14th straight double-digit performance on the boards.
