Last Meeting ( Nov 13, 2019 ) Memphis 119, Charlotte 117

The Charlotte Hornets will try to avoid matching their longest losing streak of the season when they carry a four-game slide into a visit to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. The Hornets fell 104-102 in overtime against Oklahoma City on Friday, starting slow before rallying to force the extra session and then running out of steam in another inconsistent effort.

"I think we came out really sluggish," forward PJ Washington told reporters. "Missing shots, missing assignments on defense, just watching ball, watching the offense. We could have done a better job of that coming in, so we just have to get better from the start of the games and just have to maintain that for the whole game." Charlotte lost to the Grizzlies earlier in the season on Ja Morant's game-winner in the final seconds, but it has won four straight at Memphis. The Grizzlies have been an inconsistent club as well, sandwiching a pair of wins around a 30-point loss to San Antonio and then falling 119-110 at Denver on Saturday. They scored 11 points in the first quarter and 42 in the fourth to make it interesting.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS Southeast (Charlotte, Memphis)

ABOUT THE HORNETS (13-21): Terry Rozier led the way in Friday's loss with 26 points while making 7-of-9 shots inside the arc. Devonte' Graham handed out 13 assists but continued a rough shooting stretch by going 6-of-21 from the floor - 3-of-13 from 3-point range. Graham is a woeful 33-for-123 over a seven-game stretch since scoring a career-high 40 points at Brooklyn on Dec. 11.

ABOUT THE GRIZZLIES (12-21):
Jaren Jackson Jr. had a team-high 20 points in Saturday's loss, which came with a silver lining due to the strong finish. "Our resolve and the guys were great at halftime and making a run run to close out the second quarter and cut it to three in the third and back to seven in the fourth," coach Taylor Jenkins told reporters. "For our group to come in here and compete like that, to come up short is unfortunate, but proud of a lot of things we did tonight." Morant had 16 points and eight assists, and he is shooting 52.9 percent over the last three games.

BUZZER BEATERS

1. Washington scored 14 points and had a plus-20 rating in Friday's loss after missing the previous five games with a broken finger.

2. Grizzlies SF Brandon Clarke is 11-of-14 from the floor over his last two games while making his only two 3-point tries.

3. Rozier scored 33 points while making 7-of-11 3-pointers in the earlier loss to the Grizzlies.

PREDICTION: Grizzlies 111, Hornets 106
