Darius Days scored 20 points to lead four LSU players in double figures and added 10 rebounds as the host Tigers held off Missouri State 73-58 in a nonconference game Friday night.
Emmitt Williams added 14 points and Skylar Mays and Trendon Watford had 12 each as the Tigers improved to 5-2 in the opener of a stretch of three home games in 10 games. LSU hosts New Orleans on Dec. 3 and Northwestern State on Dec. 8.
Keandre Cook scored 17 points and Tulio Da Silva added 16 to lead the Bears (3-5), who finished a stretch of five straight games away from home with their second true road game of the season.
Josh Hall had 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Bears out-rebounded the Tigers 35-30, but they couldn't overcome their cold shooting. They shot 40.4 percent from the floor (23 of 57).
LSU has been plagued by turnovers during the early season, but it committed just seven against Missouri State.
Days started the second-half scoring with a 3-pointer that gave LSU a nine-point lead.
The Tigers increased the lead to 11 points twice before the Bears mounted a comeback.
Missouri State got as close as two points before a basket by Williams started an 8-0 run. That gave LSU a 55-45 lead midway through the half.
The Tigers lead grew to 61-47 when Charles Manning Jr. made a 3-pointer with 8:59 remaining. They led by double figures the rest of the way.
Missouri State had a 5-2 lead before LSU went on an 11-0 run and led the rest of the way.
Hall made a free throw to stop the run, and his basket pulled the Bears within 17-16.
Mays made two 3-pointers as the Tigers increased their lead to 27-20.
Days' jumper helped LSU match its biggest lead of the half at 33-25.
Hall's basket made it 33-27 at halftime and each team had just two points during the final 4 1/2 minutes.
