Romello White had season highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Rob Edwards had 17 points and three 3-pointers as host Arizona State built a big lead and rolled to a 77-65 victory over Lafayette on Saturday night.
Remy Martin had 15 points and four assists, and Taeshon Cherry and freshman Jaelen House had nine points apiece for the Sun Devils (6-2), who had 10 steals while winning for fifth time in six games after a season-opening non-conference loss to Colorado in China.
Freshman guard Mylik Wilson tied a season-high with 16 points and added eight rebounds, Cedric Russell had 16 points and Dou Gueye had 11 points for the Ragin' Cajuns (5-4), who were playing the first of three straight road games.
White had his second consecutive double-double as the Sun Devils opened 19-point leads twice in the second half. Louisiana, which overcame a 14-point deficit to rout Southeastern Louisiana in its last game, got within 10 points at 69-59 on Russell's 3-pointer with 3:37 remaining but never were closer.
Arizona State, which never trailed, held the Ragin' Cajuns to 42.9 percent shooting from the field and scored 22 points off 20 Louisiana turnovers. The Sun Devils have held six of their last seven opponents to under 43 percent shooting from the field.
Martin and Kimani Lawrence had two steals apiece. Edwards had five rebounds, and House had four.
White and Edwards had 11 points apiece in the first half, when Arizona State led by as many as 14 points, the last on Lawrence's free throw with 1:30 remaining. It was 38-26 at half.
Edwards made 3 of 9 3-point attempts and is 18 of 44 from distance this season. He has at least one 3-pointer in all eight games this season. He had only eight points in the previous two games combined.
