Ethan Thompson recorded 25 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals to help Oregon State post a 74-56 victory over Utah in Pac-12 play on Thursday night in Corvallis, Ore.
Warith Alatishe added 19 points, nine rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals as Oregon State (11-10, 7-8 Pac-12) snapped a three-game slide. The Beavers are 13-3 all-time at home against the Utes.
Timmy Allen had 24 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Utah (9-9, 6-8), which lost its second straight game. Branden Carlson scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half for the Utes.
Utah's Alfonso Plummer had just four points on 1-of-11 shooting and missed all seven 3-point attempts. Plummer set a Pac-12 record with 11 3-pointers against the Beavers last March in the first round of the Pac-12 tourney.
The Utes played without starters Rylan Jones (shoulder) and Mikael Jantunen (away playing for the Finnish National Team).
The Beavers shot 44.3 percent from the field and made 4 of 18 from 3-point range. Oregon State committed 12 turnovers but held a 36-29 rebounding edge.
Utah shot 38.5 percent from the field, including 3 of 18 from 3-point range. The Utes committed 20 turnovers.
Oregon State led by five early in the second half before Carlson scored the final seven points of a 10-0 burst as the Utes took a 37-32 lead with 17:14 remaining.
The Beavers answered with a 23-2 surge over the next nine-plus minutes that concluded with 14 consecutive points. Thompson finished the burst in style with two dunks in 13 seconds as Oregon State led 55-39 with 7:59 left.
Riley Battin knocked down a 3-pointer 12 seconds later for Utah's first field goal in 9:27.
The Utes later moved within 61-51 with 4:32 left after back-to-back baskets by Allen. But Jarod Lucas made two free throws and Thompson added a jumper to push Oregon State's lead back to 14 with 3:59 left.
Zach Reichle drained a 3-pointer to make it 70-53 with 54 seconds left as the Beavers closed it out.
Alatishe had 11 first-half points and Thompson added 10 as Oregon State led 30-24 at the break.
Allen had 12 first-half points for Utah.
