Jarkel Joiner scored 20 points and Matthew Murrell added 19 as host Ole Miss handed No. 18 Memphis its third consecutive loss, 67-63, in a nonconference game Saturday in Oxford, Miss.
The Rebels (6-2) made 23 of 29 free throws, compared to 23 of 37 for the Tigers (5-3).
Memphis' DeAndre Williams scored 13 points and Earl Timberlake added 11. The Tigers ranked No. 9 before losing to Iowa State 78-59 on Nov. 26 in the NIT Season Tip-Off, then falling at Georgia 82-79 on Wednesday night.
Timberlake scored the Tigers' first five points of the second half to forge a tie at 32.
Murrell snapped a tie by making a 3-pointer and a free throw.
Memphis responded by scoring six straight points as Alex Lomax's 3-pointer gave it a 38-36 lead.
Jaemyn Brakefield made two free throws to tie the score and each team took the lead twice.
Murrell scored eight straight points to help the Rebels take a 51-45 lead midway through the half.
Lomax made a jumper, but Ole Miss made five free throws to increase the lead to 56-47.
Tyler Harris made two free throws for the Tigers, but Luis Rodriguez's jumper gave the Rebels a 62-51 lead with 2:22 left.
Harris' 3-pointer and Williams' three-point play cut the lead to 62-57 with 1:53 remaining.
Murrell made two free throws, but Timberlake made two free throws and Harris had a layup to pull Memphis within 64-61 with 45 seconds left.
Nysier Brooks made three free throws for Ole Miss in the final 14 seconds.
The score was tied four times before Joiner's three-point play gave the Rebels an 18-15 lead.
He scored 13 consecutive Ole Miss points and Robert Allen added a basket as the Rebels took a 30-26 halftime lead.
