MORAGA, Calif. -- Calvin Hermanson scored 22 points, Jock Landale overcame foul problems to add 15 and No. 21 Saint Mary's took advantage of Cal State Fullerton's sloppiness to claim a 76-57 victory on Wednesday night.
Emmett Naar contributed 11 points and nine assists for the Gaels (3-0), who never trailed after the opening three minutes.
Fullerton (0-2) coughed up 21 turnovers, allowing Saint Mary's to sculpt a 31-5 advantage in points off turnovers.
Landale, a preseason All-America candidate, picked up two early fouls, just as he did two nights earlier against New Mexico State, and spent 11 minutes of the first half as a spectator. He was tagged with No. 4 with 11:24 left and the Gaels leading 56-43, but they had to carry on without him.
Fullerton effectively attacked the Gaels' defense, scoring 38 points in the paint. Kyle Allman and Jackson Rowe led the visitors with 13 points apiece.
But the Titans experienced more of the same problems that contributed to their season-opening 84-42 loss to No. 10 USC, when they had 21 turnovers and shot 2 of 19 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Against the Gaels, they had more turnovers (11) than shot attempts (10) through the first 14 minutes. They trailed 39-31 at halftime, despite shooting 66.7 percent, because they had 13 giveaways.
The Titans were no better on 3s, missing their first nine and finishing 1 of 11.
