Boston College ended a painful non-conference stretch by improving to 2-0 in ACC play with a road win against Notre Dame over the weekend. The Eagles will try to carry some momentum back into non-conference action when they host Albany of the America East on Tuesday.

After losing four straight and five of six to teams out of the ACC - the last three by an average of 16 points - Boston College squeaked by the Fighting Irish 73-72 on Saturday to join Louisville and Virginia atop the conference standings. "I knew we were going to play well," coach Jim Christian told the media. "We practiced well the last couple of days and got back to being who we were." The Great Danes head to Chestnut Hill on the heels of a one-point loss at Bucknell on Saturday, blowing a 12-point advantage in the final 14 minutes. "This is a game that we should have closed out, but we didn't make plays when we need to, and we didn't play smart basketball," coach Will Brown told reporters.

ABOUT ALBANY (5-5): Sophomore guard Cameron Healy paces the Great Danes with 17.6 points per game and he chipped in a career-high 11 rebounds at Bucknell. Senior guard Ahmad Clark is the only other player on the team averaging in double figures in points (14.3) after producing a team-high 18 in Saturday's loss. Sophomore forward Adam Lulka, who started all 32 games last season, missed his seventh consecutive contest with an ankle injury.

ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE (5-5): Freshman guard Jay Heath delivered a big late 3-pointer - his fourth of the game - at Notre Dame while finishing with 16 points and improving to 21-of-42 from long range on the season. "Jay plays with a lot of confidence and he's a tough kid," Christian told reporters. "You don't beat Notre Dame on the road unless you get great effort from a lot of guys. We hit some huge shots down the stretch." Grad transfer Derryck Thornton had a team-high 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting as the Eagles survived without senior forward and third-leading scorer Nik Popovic, who was out with back spasms.

TIP-INS

2. Healy and Clark are a combined 69-for-81 from the foul line.

3. This marks the first meeting between the programs.
