Purdue @ Michigan preview

Crisler Center

Last Meeting ( Mar 10, 2017 ) Michigan 74, Purdue 70

Seventh-ranked Purdue puts its impressive winning streak on the line when it faces Michigan on the road Tuesday. The Boilermakers have won 11 consecutive games -- which is the third-longest streak in the nation -- and are coming off a 74-62 victory against Nebraska on Saturday as they hope to improve to 5-0 in Big Ten play for the first time since 1989-90 by avenging an 82-70 defeat to Michigan at Crisler Center last season.

"They totally outclassed us last year at their place," Purdue coach Matt Painter admitted to reporters. "They have gotten the best of us so hopefully we can play better." The Wolverines are playing their best basketball of the season as they beat Illinois 79-69 on Saturday to extend their winning streak to seven games. Michigan has won 10 straight home games, including two by double digits in Big Ten play, and can take a big step toward making its first appearance in the Top 25 by toppling the Boilermakers for the third consecutive time after sweeping the season series in 2016-17. "If we can beat the Purdues and Michigan States then I'm probably going to be a believer that we're okay," Michigan coach John Beilein told reporters."We're 14-3 but we have a long, long way to go."

TV: 9 p.m. ET, ESPN2

ABOUT PURDUE (15-2, 4-0 Big Ten): Vince Edwards led the way with 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the win against Nebraska to register his seventh double-double of the season and move into 13th place on the Boilermakers' all-time rebounding list with 666. Isaac Haas scored 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and pulled down six boards while Dakota Mathias extended his streak of games with at least one 3-pointer to 23 in a row - the third longest in program history - as he finished 2-of-4 from beyond the arc en route to 11 points. P.J. Thompson added nine points and Matt Haarms tallied eight against the Cornhuskers.

ABOUT MICHIGAN (14-3, 3-1 Big Ten): Moritz Wagner looked like his old self for the first time since suffering a bone bruise on his right ankle in mid-December as he scored a team-high 14 points to lead six players in double figures in the win against Illinois. Muhammad-Ali Abdur Rahkman and Duncan Robinson each added 13 points as the Wolverines shot 51 percent from the floor against the Fighting Illini. Freshmen Isaiah Livers, who has turned the corner after a slow start, and Jordan Poole contributed 11 points apiece while Charles Matthews scored all 10 of his points in the second half.
