Winnipeg @ Montreal preview
Percival Molson Memorial Stadium
Last Meeting ( Jul 27, 2017 ) Montreal 40, Winnipeg 41
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers look to continue their winning ways when they face the Montreal Alouettes on the road Thursday. The Blue Bombers have won four straight games, including a 33-26 victory against the previously-unbeaten Edmonton Eskimos in Week 9, to move within two points of first place in the West Division, and they hope to sweep the season series with the Alouettes following their thrilling 41-40 triumph on July 27.
Winnipeg has scored 33 or more points in six consecutive contests and can improve to 5-0 against East Division opponents with another win. Montreal is left to pick up the pieces after a disappointing 38-6 setback to the Toronto Argonauts. The Alouettes, who have been held below 20 points five times this season, dropped three of their last four games to fall out of top spot in the East Division and they hope to avenge an epic implosion in Winnipeg where they blew a 12-point lead in the final minute. "We've got to keep pushing and we can't split up," Montreal wide receiver Nik Lewis told reporters. "We're still in second place and we have a chance against Winnipeg and then Ottawa so hopefully we learned some things and are ready to go."
TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, TSN, RDS, ESPN3
ABOUT THE BLUE BOMBERS (6-2): Andrew Harris had one of the finest performances of his eight-year career as he caught eight passes for 120 yards and added another 105 on the ground in the win against Edmonton. "He's a guy that can do a lot of things for you," Winnipeg quarterback Matt Nichols told reporters about Harris. "He's a team leader out there and a guy that brings it every single day." Julian Feoli-Gudino, who has caught two touchdown passes in 2017, left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury but is expected to return in time for Thursday's clash while defensive back Brian Walker is doubtful with an undisclosed ailment.
ABOUT THE ALOUETTES (3-5): Darian Durant was limited to 93 yards passing and threw an interception on the goal line in the first quarter of the lopsided loss to Toronto. Lewis made six catches for 42 yards against the Argonauts to move past Ben Cahoon (1,017) for second place on the CFL's all-time receptions list. Rookie linebacker Dominique Tovell returned an interception 61 yards for his first CFL touchdown, but did not practice on Monday due to a knee injury, with Anthony Sarao taking reps with the first team in his absence.
