BC @ Toronto preview
BMO Field
Last Meeting ( Nov 4, 2017 ) Toronto 40, BC 13
The Toronto Argonauts look to build on their thrilling Week 8 victory when they host the BC Lions on Saturday. The Argonauts erased a 24-point deficit in the third quarter en route to a 42-41 win against the Ottawa Redblacks on Aug. 2 to complete the second-biggest comeback in franchise history, and the defending Grey Cup champions hope to ride the momentum to back-to-back victories for the first time this season.
"We are not going to anoint ourselves with one win but I think we gave ourselves an opportunity to find out a little more about ourselves," Toronto coach Marc Trestman told reporters. "We just know we have something inside of us that we can start with this week." BC played its way back into playoff contention with a crucial 31-23 victory against the Edmonton Eskimos last week. The Lions outscored the Eskimos 21-3 in the second half to secure their first win in the series since Aug. 6, 2015, and hope the offence continues to improve under the leadership of veteran quarterback Travis Lulay after posting their highest scoring output of the campaign. BC has dropped all four of its road games this season, but has won four straight meetings in Toronto and can move back to .500 for the first time in more than a month with a victory at BMO Field.

ABOUT THE LIONS (3-4): Lulay threw for 239 yards and a touchdown against Edmonton to become the 35th player in CFL history to reach 20,000 passing yards (20,029). Chris Rainey was named one of the CFL's Top Performers of the Week after accumulating 211 all-purpose yards, including a 79-yard punt-return touchdown in the second quarter, which kept the Lions within striking distance of the Eskimos. Running back Jeremiah Johnson, who leads the team in rushing, is expected to return after missing last week's game because of a lingering ankle injury.
ABOUT THE ARGONAUTS (2-5): McLeod Bethel-Thompson had a debut to remember as he threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winning toss to Armanti Edwards with one second remaining, to lift Toronto past first-place Ottawa. Linebacker Bear Woods, who made 90 tackles in 17 games with Toronto in 2017, could make his season debut after missing the first seven games with a back injury while running back Anthony Coombs is also ready for his first appearance of the campaign after coming off the six-game injured list.
