The Saskatchewan Roughriders look to recover from their first defeat of the season when they host the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday. Saskatchewan suffered a humbling 40-17 setback to the Ottawa Redblacks and will turn to Brandon Bridge after Zach Collaros was placed on the six-game injured list with a concussion, as the Roughriders look to avenge a 17-16 loss to Montreal in the opening week of the 2017 campaign.
"I never want to start because of an injury and hopefully Zach gets healthy and comes back quick," Bridge told reporters. "I'm excited about the task at hand and we've got to execute our game plan and get this win." Montreal is left to pick up the pieces following a 56-10 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last week. The Alouettes surrendered almost 600 yards of offence en route to their franchise-worst 13th consecutive defeat and hope to salvage a season that is quickly slipping away by beating a West Division opponent for the first time since July 14, 2017. "I think that's our rock bottom so there's nowhere to go but up," Montreal defensive back Mitchell White told reporters. "I think you're going to see a different team and you're going to see a team with fight."

ABOUT THE ROUGHRIDERS (1-1): Collaros, who has a history of suffering concussions, was 4-of-10 passing for 106 yards and a touchdown but threw two interceptions, including a pick six, before going into the concussion protocol in the second quarter. Bridge has only two career CFL starts under his belt, but made 11 appearances off the bench last season and went 13-of-22 for 145 yards against the Redblacks. Wide receiver Duron Carter made the start at cornerback in place of an injured Nick Marshall and returned an interception for a touchdown, but will likely play on the offensive side of the ball Saturday.
ABOUT THE ALOUETTES (0-2): Drew Willy struggled to keep the offence moving for the second straight week as he was limited to 111 yards passing with a touchdown against the Blue Bombers. Montreal inked Vernon Adams Jr., who spent portions of two seasons with the Alouettes in 2016-17, to a one-year deal after the former Oregon Duck quarterback was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats earlier in the week. Defensive end John Bowman could make his first appearance of the season after recovering from an ankle injury while Tommie Campbell is expected to play despite a sore shoulder.

1. Montreal has won three of the last four meetings with Saskatchewan.
2. The Alouettes have been held to fewer than 20 points in 10 of their last 11 games.
