Last Meeting ( Sep 2, 2018 ) Winnipeg 23, Saskatchewan 31
The visiting Saskatchewan Roughriders look to continue their winning ways when they take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 15th edition of the Banjo Bowl. The Roughriders have won three consecutive games, including a 31-23 victory over the Blue Bombers in the Labour Day Classic, to move into a second-place tie with the Edmonton Eskimos and hope to take another step forward in their quest to host a playoff game by producing their first four-game winning streak since 2016.
"Guys believe that we have the right recipe to win here," Saskatchewan quarterback Zach Collaros told reporters. "We don't come in here and say that to say that, we really believe in what we're doing." The Blue Bombers fell into fourth place following their third straight loss, which is their longest skid since 2015. Winnipeg has given up an average of 38 points per game during their losing streak and hopes to stay in playoff contention in a tight West Division race by earning their fourth straight win against their prairie rivals in the annual rematch following the Labour Day Classic. "Our expectations are still very high and our goal is still set on a Grey Cup," Winnipeg defensive back Chris Randle told reporters. "In order to reach that we have to do better and we have to continue to expect we will win games."

ABOUT THE ROUGHRIDERS (6-4): Collaros threw for 250 yards and a score while defensive back Nick Marshall, who has played on both sides of the ball in recent weeks, added two rushing touchdowns to give him five TDs in his last three games. Veteran defensive end Charleston Hughes continued his recent tear as he extended his streak of consecutive games with a sack to a franchise-record eight in a row, while increasing his league-leading total to 13 on the season. Marcus Thigpen added 92 yards from scrimmage to go along with a receiving touchdown while Naaman Roosevelt caught seven passes for 86 yards.
ABOUT THE BLUE BOMBERS (5-6): Matt Nichols continued to struggle as he was limited to 166 yards passing with a touchdown, but finished with two interceptions against Saskatchewan prompting calls for backup Chris Streveler to take over as the starter. "Nichols is our starting quarterback," Winnipeg coach Mike O'Shea reiterated to reporters. "He's very good." Wide receiver Weston Dressler has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury, but could return Saturday while defensive back Mo Leggett is also likely to suit up after sitting out the Labour Day Classic with a lower-body injury.
EXTRA POINTS
1. Nichols has thrown five interceptions in his last three games.
2. Winnipeg RB Andrew Harris leads the league in rushing yards (963).
3. Saskatchewan hasn't recorded a victory in the Banjo Bowl since 2014.
