The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium

Last Meeting ( Jul 7, 2018 ) Edmonton 17, Toronto 20

The Toronto Argonauts look to beat the Eskimos for the second time in six days when they meet Friday at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. The James Franklin era in Toronto started with a bang as he engineered the game-winning drive in the fourth quarter of the 20-17 victory against his old club, and hopes to lead the Argonauts to a season sweep of Edmonton for the first time since 2013.

"We'll see where this takes us as we certainly have a tough road ahead," Toronto coach Marc Trestman told reporters. "We have to go back there in a back-to-back and that will be a challenge for us." The Eskimos are left to rue a missed opportunity on the road after turnovers and penalties doomed them to defeat. Edmonton outgained the Argonauts 426-353 but committed 11 penalties for 116 yards to go along with two turnovers and hope to cut down on the miscues by downing the Argonauts for the fifth straight time at home. "The team that played with better discipline won and that's how it usually goes," Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly told reporters. "We're not going to sugarcoat it because it's a game we should have won."

TV: 9 p.m. ET, TSN, ESPN Plus

ABOUT THE ARGONAUTS (1-2): Franklin threw for 217 yards and one touchdown to go along with a TD on the ground in his first start since taking over for Ricky Ray, who suffered a serious neck injury June 23. "He made some key plays when he needed to make throws and he took over the drive on the last series," Trestman said. "He certainly took a step in the right direction." James Wilder Jr. flashed the form which saw him win the league's Most Outstanding Rookie award in 2017 as he rumbled for 120 yards and a touchdown against Edmonton en route to one of the CFL's Top Performers of the Week awards.

ABOUT THE ESKIMOS (2-2): Reilly went 28-of-40 through the air for 370 yards and a touchdown against the Argonauts to go over 300 yards passing for the fifth time in his last six regular-season games. Duke Williams hauled in eight passes for 125 yards despite battling a leg injury for the majority of the second half while Derel Walker had four receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown. C.J. Gable was limited to 39 rushing yards after racking up a career-high 165 on the ground against BC in the previous week while first-year defensive back Maurice McKnight recorded his first interception to go along with six tackles.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Edmonton has won six of its last seven home games against East Division opponents.

2. Wilder has gained 237 yards from scrimmage in his last two games.

3. Williams has recorded three straight 100-yard receiving games.

PREDICTION: Eskimos 31, Argonauts 20
