Air Force 49, Idaho State 21: Cody Getz rushed for 218 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns as Air Force opened its season by crushing visiting Idaho State.
Connor Dietz completed 8-of-11 passes for 142 yards and rushed seven times for 74 yards and a score for the Falcons, who racked up 626 total yards, including 484 on the ground.
Getz led the charge, finding the end zone three times in the first half as Air Force built a 28-0 lead at the break. The Falcons found little resistance to their rushing attack, compiling 8.4 yards per carry.
Air Force was almost as effective stopping the run, holding the Bengals to 66 yards on the ground.
The Falcons missed a field goal on their first drive but scored on six of their next seven. Getz capped a 78-yard drive with a 9-yard scamper to open the scoring in the first quarter and broke free for a 63-yard touchdown early in the second.
Getz used another long run, this time for 41 yards, to make it 21-0 with 7:18 left in the first half and Jon Lee added a 14-yard touchdown run with 1:05 left in the second quarter.
Idaho State quarterback Kevin Yost took to the air in the second half, passing for a pair of touchdowns, but the Falcons kept grinding on the ground to close it out.
