Wallace finished 18-of-31 for 251 yards and added 32 rushing yards as Mississippi (5-0, 2-0 SEC) earned its first victory over a top-ranked team and improved to 5-0 for the first time since 1962. Wallace took over in the fourth quarter, hitting Vince Sanders with a 34-yard strike to tie it and, after the Rebels forced and recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, finding Walton for the go-ahead score. The Rebels had the point after blocked and watched Alabama drive toward the winning score before Golson picked off Sims to seal it.
