No. 9 Oregon 45, Washington 20: Freshman Royce Freeman rushed 29 times for 169 yards and four touchdowns and Marcus Mariota threw for 336 yards and two scores as the Ducks rolled past the visiting Huskies.
Mariota completed 24-of-33 passes with no interceptions and Freeman scored on runs of 37, 3, 1 and 3 yards for Oregon (6-1, 3-1 Pac-12), which recorded 554 yards of total offense and extended its winning streak against the Huskies to 11 games. Freeman has 11 rushing touchdowns in his first seven games.
Cyler Miles was 19-of-28 for 147 yards and a touchdown with one interception for Washington (5-2, 1-2), which trailed 28-6 at halftime after Oregon scored 21 consecutive points in the second quarter. Troy Williams replaced Miles early in the fourth quarter and scored on a 7-yard run to cap a 17-play, 75-yard drive.
Oregon went three-and-out on its first possession before scoring touchdowns on its next three drives. Freeman capped a 99-yard drive with a 1-yard TD run midway through the second quarter and the Ducks closed the half with Mariota’s 23-yard TD pass to Byron Marshall.
The Ducks extended the lead to 35-6 on its opening possession of the third quarter as Mariota connected with Dwayne Stanford for a 16-yard score. Washington answered with Miles’ 3-yard TD pass to Deontae Cooper six minutes later, but Oregon drew clear on Freeman’s 3-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Mariota surpassed 10,000 career all-purpose yards in the third quarter and has 1,756 rushing yards and 8,299 passing yards. … Oregon was penalized six times for 80 yards in the first half, but just once for 10 yards after intermission. … Lavon Coleman rushed 12 times for 28 yards for Washington, which committed two turnovers and was held to 133 rushing yards.
