Stanford 38, Oregon State 14: Kevin Hogan overcame two interceptions to pass for 277 yards and two touchdowns and rush for one score as the Cardinal rolled past the visiting Beavers in Pac-12 play.
Ty Montgomery caught six passes for 73 yards and returned a punt for a touchdown as Stanford (5-3, 3-2) held a 435-221 edge in total yards. Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Pratt had receiving scores and Patrick Skov rushed for a TD.
Chris Brown rushed for a score for Oregon State (4-3, 1-3), which has lost three of its last four games. Sean Mannion was just 14-of-30 for 122 yards before leaving in the fourth quarter when replaced by backup Luke Del Rio.
Hogan’s second first-quarter miscue was picked off by Michael Doctor and Brown scored from the 5 on the ensuing play to tie the score at 7-7. Stanford then began a run of 31 consecutive points when Hogan broke loose on a 37-yard scoring run.
Hogan hit Pratt on a 37-yard scoring pass and Skov dove in from the 1 to help the Cardinal take a 28-7 halftime lead. Montgomery returned a punt 50 yards for a score with 12:54 to go in the third quarter as Stanford pulled away.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cardinal racked up six sacks. … Mannion has 12,134 career passing yards as he closes in on the Pac-12 record held by USC’s Matt Barkley (12,327 from 2009-12). … Hogan moved into sixth-place on Stanford’s career passing touchdowns list with 42, passing Todd Husak (41 from 1996-99).
