Utah 20, Stanford 17 (2OT): Travis Wilson tossed the game-winning touchdown to Kenneth Scott in double overtime to lift the visiting Utes over the Cardinal in a Pac-12 struggle.
Wilson, who went 21-of-28 with 177 yards, connected with Kaelin Clay on a 25-yard score in the first overtime and had a rushing touchdown in regulation for Utah (7-3, 4-3 Pac-12), which notched a third straight win in Palo Alto. Scott had 71 yards receiving and Clay added 31.
Kevin Hogan helped force the second overtime with a 14-yard scoring strike to Austin Hooper and threw an earlier touchdown in the first quarter for Stanford (5-5, 3-4), which has two games remaining to become bowl eligible. Christian McCaffrey collected 77 rushing yards and Kelsey Young chipped in 52.
Hogan was sacked for an 8-yard loss in the second overtime and completed a pass to McCaffrey for a loss of 1 yard as Stanford was forced to settle for Jordan Williamson's 51-yard field goal. Wilson totaled runs of 4 and 3 yards on the ensuing drive and added a pass of 5 yards to Devontae Booker before hitting Scott for the game-winner.
The Cardinal struck first on a 3-yard pass to Ward that capped a seven-play, 70-yard opening drive, which was kept alive by McCaffrey's 37-yard dash on fourth-and-1. The Utes recovered a fumble in the second quarter and knotted the game 7-7 on Wilson's 2-yard keeper.
GAME NOTEBOOK: McCaffrey's 37-yard run was a career-long for the freshman RB. ... Booker, the Pac-12's third-leading rusher, was held to 58 yards. ... The Utes have won two of their three overtime games this season.
