Mark Sanchez passed for 220 yards and three touchdowns as the New York Jets looked like a completely different team in a 28-14 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday.

After getting embarrassed by Baltimore on national television while managing just six first downs and 176 yards on Monday, the Jets found their offense in the second half against the Patriots, blitzing past their frequent tormentors with 22 first downs and 336 total yards.

New York scored 18 unanswered points in the second half, taking the lead when Sanchez found Jerricho Cotchery in the left corner of the end zone and then converted a two-point attempt to take a 21-14 lead with 38 seconds remaining in the third.

The Jets clinched it in the fourth when Sanchez lofted a 1-yard scoring pass to tight end Dustin Keller.

The Patriots struck first in the second quarter when Tom Brady connected with Wes Welker on the far right side for a 6-yard touchdown pass. The Jets answered back with a score of their own on the ensuing possession, capping a 12-play drive with Sanchez’s 10-yard pass to Braylon Edwards for the touchdown.

Randy Moss gave New England a 14-7 edge with 53 seconds left in the half when he beat Darrelle Revis to the inside and made a one-handed catch over his shoulder on Brady’s 34-yard pass. But the Patriots defense could not hold out for 53 seconds, allowing New York to cut it to 14-10 with a field goal to end the half.

Brady finished with 248 yards and two touchdowns but also tossed a pair of interceptions and fumbled at the Jets’ 16-yard line with 4:06 left in the game to squander New England‘s last chance.
