Raiders 19, Jaguars 9: Marcel Reese rushed for a touchdown and Sebastian
Janikowski kicked four field goals as host Oakland defeated
Jacksonville.
Darren McFadden rushed for 129 yards on 19 carries while the Raiders
(1-1) held the offensively challenged Jaguars (0-2) to 248 yards and
sacked quarterback Chad Henne five times. Jacksonville has scored 11
points over its first two games.
Oakland held a seven-point halftime
edge and began the second half with a 12-play, 69-yard drive that led to
Janikowski’s 30-yard field goal. McFadden provided the key play on the
drive with a 30-yard run to the Jacksonville 15.
McFadden
broke loose for a 28-yard gain later in the quarter to set up
Janikowski’s 29-yard field goal 71 seconds into the final quarter.
Janikowski kicked another 29-yarder with six minutes remaining to make
it 19-3 before the Jaguars scored their first offensive touchdown of the
season on Henne’s 13-yard pass to Clay Harbor with 2:53 to play.
The
Raiders led 10-3 at halftime due to Reese’s 11-yard scoring run in the first quarter and Janikowski’s 46-yard field goal with three seconds left in the
half. Jacksonville received a 27-yard field goal from Josh Scobee midway
through the second.

Jones-Drew departed in the second quarter with a sprained left ankle. He
gained 27 yards on 10 carries before exiting. … The Raiders rushed for 226
yards and are averaging 198.5 on the ground. Oakland had 171 yards in
its season-opening loss to Indianapolis. … Jacksonville has just 426 offensive
yards through two games.
