Matt Cassel threw four touchdown passes, including an 11-yarder to Steve Breaston with 5:21 left, as the visiting Kansas City Chiefs overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat the winless Indianapolis Colts 28-24 on Sunday.
Breaston and Dwayne Bowe had two touchdown catches apiece as the Chiefs (2-3) won their second straight game and racked up a season-high 436 yards of offense.
Bowe had seven receptions for 128 yards. His 19 touchdowns since the start of 2010 are second to Detroit’s Calvin Johnson (20).
Jackie Battle rushed for a career-high 119 yards as Kansas City had a season-high 194 on the ground. Battle entered the game with 37 yards this season and 155 for his career.
Cassel finished 21 of 29 for 257 yards.
Curtis Painter threw two touchdown passes – both to Pierre Garcon – in his second career start as the Colts fell to 0-5 for the first time since 1997. Garcon had 125 yards on five catches.
Painter’s 67-yard strike to Garcon in the second quarter gave Indianapolis a 17-0 lead. The pair connected for touchdowns of 87 and 59 yards in last week’s 24-17 loss at Tampa Bay.
Indianapolis running back Joseph Addai injured his right hamstring in the first quarter and did not return. Addai, who missed eight games with a shoulder injury last season, has not made it through a season without missing at least one game since his rookie year in 2006.
