Titans 16, Jaguars 14: Ryan Succop kicked three field goals as host Tennessee squeezed out just enough offense to defeat Jacksonville.
In a matchup of two of the NFL's worst teams, Tennessee (2-4) snapped its four-game losing streak while keeping Jacksonville (0-6) winless on the season, although things got very interesting late. The Jaguars scored a touchdown with 37 seconds remaining to close within 16-14 and recovered the ensuing onside kick, but Josh Scobee's 55-yard field-goal attempt in the waning seconds was blocked.
Charlie Whitehurst completed 17-of-28 passes for 233 yards in place of Jake Locker (wrist), while Bishop Sankey gained 61 yards on 18 carries for Tennessee. Jaguars rookie Blake Bortles went 32-of-46 for 336 yards with a touchdown and an interception while also leading his team with 38 rushing yards.
Jacksonville took a 7-0 lead on the game's opening drive as Storm Johnson plunged into the end zone from 1 yard out. Tennessee got on the scoreboard on Succop's 25-yard field goal late in the first before forging ahead on Jackie Battle's 1-yard score - his only carry of the game - with 1:04 left in the opening half.
Two more field goals by Succop - a chip shot in the third quarter and a 42-yarder early in the fourth - pushed the Titans' lead to 16-7. Bortles found tight end Clay Harbor for a 20-yard TD in the final minute and LaRoy Reynolds recovered the onside kick before Tennessee's Sammie Hill got a hand on Scobee's potential game-winning kick.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cecil Shorts III registered game highs of 10 catches and 103 yards for the Jaguars, who still have not scored more than 17 points in a game this season. ... Jacksonville RB Toby Gerhart (foot) missed the game. In his place, Denard Robinson and Johnson combined for 43 yards on 15 carries. ... Harbor finished with 91 yards on three catches.
