Seahawks 13, Panthers 9: Russell Wilson tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Luke Willson with 47 seconds remaining to lift Seattle past host Carolina.
Russell Wilson was 20-of-32 for 199 yards and an interception but had been unable to guide the Seahawks (4-3) into the end zone until the team’s final drive of the contest. Marshawn Lynch rushed for 62 yards and Doug Baldwin had six receptions for 61 yards as the Seahawks halted a two-game losing streak.
Cam Newton was 12-of-22 for 171 yards and one interception as the Panthers (3-4-1) fell to 1-4-1 over their last six games. Jonathan Stewart rushed for 79 yards and Kelvin Benjamin caught four passes for 94 yards.
The Panthers faced third-and-11 from their own 7-yard line in the fourth quarter when Newton teamed with Benjamin for a 51-yard pass over two defenders, including Seattle’s Richard Sherman, to the Seahawks’ 42. The play set up a go-ahead 46-yard field goal by Graham Gano with 4:37 left before Seattle went on a nine-play, 80-yard drive that was culminated by Luke Willson’s first catch of the game.
Carolina jumped out to a 6-0 lead on field goals of 31 and 26 yards by Gano. The Seahawks got on the board on Steven Hauschka’s career-long 58-yard field goal with 11 minutes left in the first half and tied the score on Hauschka’s 29-yard field goal midway through the third.
GAME NOTEBOOK: OLB Bruce Irvin had two of Seattle’s three sacks. … Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) missed his fourth consecutive game. … Hauschka’s 58-yard boot tied the franchise mark set by Josh Brown in 2003.
