Eagles 45, Panthers 21: Mark Sanchez passed for 332 yards and two touchdowns, Darren Sproles accounted for a pair of scores and Philadelphia routed Carolina for its ninth straight home victory.
Rookie Jordan Matthews set career highs with seven catches for 138 yards and scored two TDs for the Eagles (7-2), who forced five turnovers and sacked Cam Newton nine times, including 3 1/2 by linebacker Connor Barwin. Making his first start in place of Nick Foles (collarbone), Sanchez went 20-of-37 while tight end Brent Celek (five catches, season-high 116 yards) also enjoyed a big game for Philadelphia.
LeSean McCoy had a quiet night for the Eagles, rushing for just 19 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Rookie wideout Kelvin Benjamin caught two late TDs for the Panthers (3-6-1), who have lost four straight games, while Newton finished 25-of-40 for 306 yards with two TDs, three interceptions and a fumble.
Two early turnovers - a fumble by DeAngelo Williams and an interception by Newton - set up a pair of Eagles scores, including an 8-yard run by Sproles that made it 10-0 just 3 1/2 minutes into the contest. Jonathan Stewart's 1-yard TD plunge brought Carolina within a field goal midway through the opening period, but Sproles answered 2 1/2 minutes later with his fifth career punt return for a score - a 65-yarder up the middle of the Panthers' coverage.
The Eagles tacked on two more touchdowns in the second quarter - Sanchez's 13-yard pass to Matthews and Bradley Fletcher's 34-yard interception return - to push the lead to 31-7 at halftime, and McCoy's 1-yard score - his first TD since Sept. 15 - increased the advantage to 38-7 midway through the third. Sanchez's 18-yard hookup with Matthews made it 45-7 early in the fourth before two TD passes from Newton to Benjamin made the final score a bit more respectable.
