New England took the opening kickoff of the second half 80 yards in eight plays, capped by a 2-yard pass to tight end Tim Wright, before Adam Vinatieri booted a 53-yarder on the ensuing drive.
The Patriots went 80 yards on the next possession before Gray bulled in from the 2 for a 28-13 edge but Luck brought the Colts right back with a 1-yard pass to offensive lineman Anthony Castonzo with 13 1/2 minutes to play. The Patriots made it three straight 80-yard touchdown drives when Gray plowed in from 1 yard for a 35-20 lead with 8:43 remaining before Brady tossed a 25-yard scoring strike to Gronkowski two minutes later to break it open.
