Redskins 17, Giants 16: Robert Griffin III threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon early in the fourth quarter as host Washington extended its winning streak to three games.
With the Redskins trailing 16-10, Griffin rolled to his right on first-and-goal and found Garcon open in the front of the end zone with 11:31 remaining. Kai Forbath converted the extra point, and Washington's defense prevented Giants quarterback Eli Manning from conducting another of his late game-winning comebacks.
Griffin, whose fumble in the first quarter was recovered by teammate Joshua Morgan and ran in for a score, completed 13 of 21 passes for 163 yards and gained another 72 yards on only five carries. Griffin has rushed for 714 yards this season, eclipsing Cam Newton's record for a rookie quarterback (706) set last season.
Alfred Morris rushed 22 times for 124 yards and Garcon caught eight passes for 106 yards for the Redskins (6-6), who earned a split of the season series and climbed within one game of the Giants for first place in the NFC East. All of the wins during Washington's streak have come against division rivals.
Manning went 20-of-33 for 280 yards and a touchdown, Ahmad Bradshaw gained 103 yards on 24 carries and Victor Cruz had five receptions for 104 yards for New York (7-5), which has lost three of four.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Morris' 19-yard run in the first quarter pushed him over the 1,000-yard mark on the season. He joined Reggie Brooks (1993) as the only Washington rookie running backs to accomplish the feat. ... Redskins LB London Fletcher extended his consecutive games streak to 236. The veteran has played in every game of his 15-year career. ... New York T Sean Locklear was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury.
