NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- After blowing a two-touchdown lead in the fourth quarter and losing in overtime last week, the Indianapolis Colts might have saved their season in the last two minutes on Sunday.
Scoring two touchdowns in an eight-second span, Indianapolis registered a 34-26 win over the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium.
Quarterback Andrew Luck hit Jack Doyle with a 7-yard touchdown pass with 1:55 left to give the Colts (3-4) a 27-23 lead, his third scoring strike of the day.
On the Titans' first play after the kickoff, T.Y. McGill strip-sacked Marcus Mariota and Robert Mathis scooped it up, rumbling 14 yards for the clinching score.
Ryan Succop drilled a 44-yard field goal with 43 seconds remaining to pull Tennessee (3-4) within a score, but the onside kick bounced out of bounds to seal the verdict.
Tennessee grabbed a 23-20 lead with 6:02 left on a 48-yard field goal by Succop, its first lead since the game's opening drive.
The Titans tied the score with 12:39 remaining on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Mariota to Delanie Walker.
Luck completed 27 of 39 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns despite being without three offensive starters due to injuries. Mariota was 22 of 37 for 232 yards and two touchdowns.
Both teams started with touchdowns on their opening drives. Tennessee marched 78 yards to open the day, using trickery to cap the possession as Mariota found tackle Taylor Lewan for a 10-yard scoring strike with 9:14 left.
Indianapolis ripped 72 yards down the field in response, scoring on a 3-yard pass from Luck to Frank Gore at the 4:46 mark of the first quarter for a 7-6 lead.
Luck made it 14-6 with 10:16 left in the half as he found T.Y. Hilton behind cornerback Jason McCourty for a 37-yard touchdown pass to cap a 93-yard drive. The Colts made it 17-6 after Robert Turbin recovered an onside kick at the Titans' 35, leading to a 28-yard field goal by Adam Vinatieri at the 7:06 mark.
Tennessee responded late in the half, going 80 yards in 11 plays and scoring on a 1-yard run by DeMarco Murray with 34 seconds remaining to cut the Indianapolis lead to 17-13 at halftime.
Vinatieri upped the Colts' margin to 20-13 with 3:46 left in the third quarter on a 33-yard field goal. It was his 43rd consecutive make, setting an all-time NFL record.
