Last Meeting ( Jan 7, 2017 ) Oakland 14, Houston 27

The Houston Texans were unable to contain the opposing quarterback last week and will face another tough task when they host the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Houston had no answers for Jacoby Brissett in Week 7, allowing him to throw four touchdown passes without an interception in a 30-23 defeat.

The Texans also had difficulty cashing in on opportunities in the first half of the setback, settling for field goals on each of their three trips to the red zone. After struggling against Brissett, Houston now must solve Derek Carr, who leads the NFL with a 74.1 completion percentage and has thrown for 11 scores with just one interception in his last five starts against AFC South teams. Carr recorded two TD passes in Green Bay last week but made a pair of critical turnovers en route to Oakland's 42-24 loss. The Raiders could use a strong defensive effort as they have allowed at least 21 points in each of their last five contests after holding Denver to 16 in their season opener.

TV: 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS. LINE: Texans -7. O/U: 51.5

ABOUT THE RAIDERS (3-3): Josh Jacobs rushed for a career-high 124 yards against the Packers after gaining 123 on the ground versus Chicago in his previous contest. The 21-year-old leads all NFL rookies in scrimmage yards (641), rushing yards (554) and rushing touchdowns (four). Darren Waller is second among all tight ends in the league with 44 catches and third in receiving yards (485) after registering at least 125 in each of his last two games.

ABOUT THE TEXANS (4-3): Cornerback Gareon Conley is likely to make his debut for Houston on Sunday against the team from which he was acquired six days earlier. "He just came here from there and he's got really good knowledge of them," coach Bill O'Brien told reporters. "(But) at the end of the day, it really has to do with the game plans and the teams. It's not really about one guy's knowledge of the team." At 27 years and 143 days, DeAndre Hopkins - who ranks second in touchdown catches (50), third in receptions (577) and third in receiving yards (7,945) since entering the league in 2013 - needs 55 yards to become the third-youngest player to reach 8,000 behind Randy Moss (26 years, 297 days) and Larry Fitzgerald (27, 110).

EXTRA POINTS

1. Texans QB Deshaun Watson joined Cam Newton as the only signal-callers in NFL history to pass for 7,500 yards (7,816) and rush for 1,000 (1,016) in their first 30 career games.

2. Oakland signed DE Kasim Edebali to replace Conley on the roster.

3. Houston added WR Steven Mitchell Jr. from the practice squad, placed CB Phillip Gaines (ankle) on injured reserve and released TE Logan Paulsen.

PREDICTION: Texans 33, Raiders 24
