Los Angeles @ Las Vegas preview

Last Meeting ( Oct 7, 2018 ) Oakland 10, L.A. Chargers 26
Age has not slowed down Philip Rivers one bit, and the veteran quarterback hopes to make sure the Los Angeles Chargers remain at full speed when they visit the woeful Oakland Raiders on Sunday. The 36-year-old Rivers, who will make his 201st consecutive start, is third in the NFL with a 116.5 passer rating and tied for fourth with 19 touchdown passes while throwing only three interceptions.
Rivers, who is in his 15th year, has not missed a start since making the first of his career in the 2006 season opener as he looks to lead Los Angeles to its sixth straight victory. The Chargers, who haven't lost since dropping a 35-23 decision at the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 and currently occupy the top wild-card spot in the AFC, are 3-1 on the road after posting a 25-17 victory at Seattle last Sunday. Oakland has suffered four straight defeats, a slide that began with a 26-10 setback against the Chargers in Los Angeles in Week 5. The Raiders have allowed 76 points in their last two games, including a 34-3 loss at San Francisco last Sunday, and at least 20 in every contest during coach Jon Gruden's first season on the sideline since 2008 with Tampa Bay.

ABOUT THE CHARGERS (6-2): Rivers joined Brett Favre (297), Eli Manning (210) and Peyton Manning (208) as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to start at least 200 consecutive games. He has recorded two touchdown tosses and a passer rating of 95 or higher in each of the Chargers' first eight contests and will join Aaron Rodgers (13 in 2011) and Tom Brady (10 in 2007) as the only signal-callers to do so in their teams' initial nine games with another such performance on Sunday. Desmond King made three tackles and returned an interception 42 yards for a score against the Seahawks en route to being named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week, becoming the first Chargers cornerback to earn the honor since Antonio Cromartie in Week 3 of the 2008 season.
ABOUT THE RAIDERS (1-7): Oakland, which hasn't notched a sack since Week 6, attempted to improve its pass rush this week by signing ends Jacquies Smith and Kony Ealy. The 28-year-old Smith, who appeared in three games with Arizona earlier this season, has recorded 13.5 sacks in 34 career contests while the 26-year-old Ealy, who tied a record by registering three - and an interception - for Carolina in Super Bowl 50, has picked up 15 in 62 NFL games. Tight end Jared Cook had made three touchdown catches in his last three contests at home while wide receiver Jordy Nelson has a TD reception in each of his last two meetings with the Chargers.
EXTRA POINTS
1. The Chargers made a change at kicker this week, signing Michael Badgley and releasing Caleb Sturgis, who last week missed a field-goal attempt and two extra points to become the first player since Oakland's Jim Breech in 1979 to fail a PAT try in three straight games.
2. Oakland LB Tahir Whitehead made a career-high four tackles for loss last week, giving him six in his last two games and seven overall this season.
3. Rivers has registered 1,559 passing yards with 12 TDs and three interceptions in his last five games against the Raiders.
PREDICTION: Chargers 37, Raiders 13
