Last Meeting ( Apr 2, 2019 ) Philadelphia 2, Dallas 6
The Philadelphia Flyers' trek through Western Canada did not go as planned, with the team earning one of a possible six points. Philadelphia attempts to bounce back in familiar surroundings when it hosts the struggling Dallas Stars on Saturday.
The Flyers began the season with a pair of victories before going 0-2-1 on their road trip, which concluded with Wednesday's 6-3 setback in Edmonton. The lone bright spot in the loss was the emergence of Jakub Voracek, who recorded two goals and an assist after beginning the campaign with a four-game point drought. Dallas is looking to salvage the finale of its four-game trek after suffering a 4-2 defeat in Pittsburgh on Friday. Defenseman John Klingberg scored a goal and set up the other for the Stars, who have recorded fewer than three tallies in each contest during its five-game overall winless streak (0-4-1).
TV: 7 p.m. ET, FS Southwest (Dallas), NBCS Philadelphia
ABOUT THE STARS (1-7-1): Roope Hintz leads the club with five goals in nine games after registering nine in 58 contests as a rookie last season. The 22-year-old Finn, who has notched only one assist, had gone four games without a tally after netting four in his first four contests of 2019-20. Dallas has had a lot of offensive difficulties thus far as it ranks last in the NHL with an average of 1.89 goals per game and has scored more than two in only two of its nine contests.
ABOUT THE FLYERS (2-2-1): Chris Stewart was not in the lineup Wednesday after signing a one-year contract and making his debut with the team the previous night. The 31-year-old right wing saw 9 minutes, 12 seconds of ice time against Calgary in his first NHL game since 2017-18 while with the Flames, as he played in the United Kingdom's Elite Ice Hockey League last season. Voracek, who scored both of his goals against the Oilers on the power play, is now three tallies shy of 200 for his career.
OVERTIME
1. Flyers F Travis Konecny, who leads the team with seven points, was kept off the scoresheet in Edmonton after beginning the season with a four-game streak.
2. Dallas is tied for 29th in the league on the power play as it has gone 1-for-25 with the man advantage.
3. Philadelphia captain Claude Giroux needs to record one point on the power play to reach 300 for his career.
PREDICTION: Flyers 4, Stars 3
