Scotiabank Saddledome

Last Meeting ( Mar 7, 2019 ) Calgary 0, Arizona 2

The surging Arizona Coyotes will try to complete an Alberta sweep when they visit the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. Arizona won Monday at Edmonton 3-2 on Derek Stepan's goal 2:01 into overtime and is 8-2-0 since starting the season 1-2-1, while its plus-11 goal differential is third-best in the West behind Vancouver (19) and Nashville (17).

Darcy Kuemper is a big reason for Arizona's fast start as he improved to 7-3-0 with a 1.69 goals-against average and .940 save percentage after making 26 saves Monday but will likely yield the net Tuesday to Antti Raanta. Calgary completed a 2-2-1 road trip with a 4-2 loss at Washington on Sunday as it starts a four-game run at Scotiabank Saddledome, where it is 4-1-1 this season. "I’d say, overall, it was a step in the right direction over the trip,” Flames forward Andrew Mangiapane told reporters after scoring his third goal. “We had a big comeback win in Nashville and then carried it over, so I think we have to keep building off it. Disappointing loss (Sunday), but overall I think it was a good trip.” Calgary dominated the 2018-19 season series, outscoring Arizona 18-6 while winning three of four meetings.

ABOUT THE COYOTES (9-4-1): Michael Grabner and Carl Soderberg on Monday each scored their fourth goals of the season - both unassisted - while Stepan recorded his second. Nick Schmaltz assisted Stepan's goal to increase his team-high point total to 13 and shares the club lead with Conor Garland (club-best seven goals) at plus-7. Raanta (2-1-1, 2.96, .914 this season) is 5-2-1, 3.27, .897 in nine games against the Flames.

ABOUT THE FLAMES (8-7-2): Elias Lindholm has five of his team-high 10 goals and four assists during a seven-game point streak and shares the team lead in points (15) with Matthew Tkachuk, who is second on the club with seven goals. Johnny Gaudreau (14 points) and Sean Monahan (12) are off to slow starts with three goals apiece after combining for 70 last season. David Rittich (7-4-2, 2.79, .915) is expected to face Arizona for the first time after stopping 43 shots in a 3-0 victory at Columbus on Saturday in his last game.

OVERTIME

1. Calgary LW Milan Lucic on Monday was suspended two games for roughing the Blue Jackets' F Kole Sherwood on Saturday.

2. Arizona is tied with Boston (11-1-2) for fewest goals allowed per contest at 2.14.

3. The Flames are 0-for-10 on the power play over their last four games.
